Vivek Express: For the convenience of passengers, the Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to increase the frequency of the country’s longest train connecting North-East India to the Southern part. There is a plan to increase Vivek Express from two days a week to four days a week from May. This train runs from Dibrugarh in Assam to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. It covers a distance of 4,189 km and passes through nine states. The train covers the entire journey in 74 hours and 35 minutes.
The first service of Vivek Express was started on 19 November 2011, which is currently the longest train route in the country both in terms of distance and time. There are 59 stoppage points in the entire journey of the train. “The existing timing and stoppage of the train will remain unchanged,” the Railways said in a statement.

Presently Train No. 15906 Dibrugarh – Kanyakumari Vivek Express will run on Saturday & Sunday w.e.f 07th May, 2023 while Train No. 15905 Kanyakumari – Dibrugarh Vivek Express will now run on every Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday w.e.f 07th May, 2023. Thursday and Sunday, from 11 May 2023 will run on every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Monday.
During its journey towards Kanyakumari, Vivek Express left Dibrugarh at 19:25 and reached the destination at 22:00 on the fourth day. Whereas, in the return direction, the train departs from Kanyakumari at 17:20 and reaches Dibrugarh at 20:50 on the fourth day of the journey.
The train has 22 coaches – 1 AC Two Tier, 4 AC Three Tier, 11 Sleeper Class, 3 General Seating, 1 Pantry Car and 2 Power cum Luggage Rake.
Passengers traveling from Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari in AC two tier will have to pay Rs 4,450 per person, while passengers traveling in AC three tier and sleeper class will have to pay Rs 3,015 and Rs 1,185 respectively.
