New Delhi: Suryakumar Yadav has broken many records in his short T20 International career. T20’s number 1 batsman Suryakumar has recently overtaken Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni in terms of runs. With his stormy batting, he scored 47 runs in the first T20 against New Zealand. Although he could not win the team, but he continued his good performance. Suryakumar Yadav is also number 1 in terms of strike rate. In the first T20 match against New Zealand in Ranchi, he also washed the bowlers fiercely. Despite spinner-friendly conditions, Surya played brilliant shots but it was Sky’s wicket that proved to be the turning point of the match.
Best batsman in the world in T20
Talking about Suryakumar’s stupendous performance with the bat, New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham said that he is the best batsman in the world in T20Is. “He is currently the best T20 batsman in the world,” he said on Star Sports. Neesham was part of the team against which Suryakumar scored his second T20I century at Mount Maunganui last year after the T20 World Cup. Talking about Surya narrated an interesting story. Neesham said that Trent Boult, one of the best fast bowlers in the world, had praised SKY in the nets for Mumbai Indians.
Bolt had said – I have not seen such a batsman
Neesham said- “I look back two years back when I joined the Mumbai Indians camp. After the first training, Trent Boult turned to me and said, “Look at this boy. He is the best batsman in the world in my opinion. I have never seen such a batsman before. This comment of Bolt was for the player of that team, which had big players like Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard. He said- He is getting better with his strength. His innings against us at Mount Maunganui was brilliant. Some of the best power-hitting I saw during that time. That’s the 360 player. He doesn’t matter what plan you come up with, he always does the opposite. He reminds me a lot of AB de Villiers.”
Surya scored 111 runs in 51 balls.
The innings that Neesham Surya was talking about was November 20, 2022. In this match, Suryakumar Yadav thrashed the Kiwi bowlers including Neesham. Surya had hit an unbeaten 111 runs in just 51 balls. Which included 11 fours-7 sixes. Team India won this match by 65 runs.
