Pakistan, trapped in a serious economic crisis, has got the support of its old ally America. Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves are fast depleting. Meanwhile, US government spokesman Ned Price said during a press conference on Wednesday that the US wants Pakistan to become economically dependent. According to media reports, Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves have come down to $4.3 billion, which will be able to export only three weeks. In such a situation, if Pakistan does not get help soon, then its economy can collapse badly.

US government spokesman Ned Price said during his daily press conference on Wednesday that “this (Pakistan’s economic crisis) is a challenge and we are also watching it. Pakistan is in talks with the IMF and international economic institutions. Those talks are going on and we will also help our Pakistani partners as far as we can but ultimately these talks are between Pakistan and international economic institutions. We want Pakistan to become economically independent.”

Pakistan is waiting for the next installment from the IMF, which can reduce its problems, but the IMF has put a hold on the next installment. To end this impasse, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also held talks with International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva on January 6. However, the IMF has currently banned the release of new installments. In fact, the IMF says that Pakistan is not keeping the promise it had made at the time of releasing the previous instalment.

It is noteworthy that the economic situation in Pakistan has deteriorated to such an extent that there is a crisis of essential food items. Flour, pulses are becoming beyond the reach of the common man, along with this, the shortage of flour and pulses is also increasing the problems of the general public. Recently the Prime Minister of Pakistan has extended the hand of friendship to India. Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan has fought three wars with India. Now Pakistan has learned its lesson. We both are neighboring countries and both have to live with each other. Now it is up to us whether we live together in peace or waste even the seven resources of time in fighting.
