New Delhi: The excitement of the Hockey World Cup is at its peak in Rourkela and Bhubaneswar in Odisha. On Tuesday, a match was played between Japan and Korea, in which Korea won 2-1. However, a major glitch has come to light in this match. In fact, in this match, instead of 11 of Japan, 12 players reached the pitch. After which the controversy came to the fore. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has taken note of the fact that 12 Japanese players instead of the maximum of 11 were on the pitch during the closing stages of their Hockey World Cup Pool-B match against South Korea.
FIH started investigation
According to a statement, “FIH officials did not take note of the situation at that time after the match. They have now spoken to the Japanese team who have explained that they had no idea about this at all. Admitting his mistake, he has expressed a sincere apology. FIH officials have also informed the Korean team about the matter. The FIH is currently investigating the issue of how this happened. However, this will not have any effect on the final result of the match.
